Pros and Cons of Secret Ballot

Interesting article about the history of voting transparency and the relatively new concept of a secret ballot. It explains why a secret ballot was important for preventing corruption, and hypothesizes that it might not be so great today.

Ehhh if social pressure would have prevented people who genuinely wanted trump to be president from making it, i don’t think that’s necessarily a good thing - it’s all based on the assumption that what’s socially acceptable is what ought to be voted in, but I don’t think social acceptability is a necessarily a clear proxy for good policy. It does sound though like such a policy would reduce extreme/radical tendencies (or maybe give radical policy on the border of social acceptability a megaphone while quashing things that go beyond that line).
